The short version

Web design in New York City done by a studio that is honest about where it sits.

We are a small studio. Web design in New York City is a real part of what we do, and we work out of Cleveland and NYC rather than pretending to a floor of an office building in Midtown. That arrangement is the whole pitch, so it is worth being plain about what it means.

It means a senior team of a handful of people, all of whom touch your project. Strategy, design, development and search sit together. Nothing gets passed down to a junior learning the job on your budget, and nothing gets subcontracted to a vendor who has never opened your site. It also means our overheads are Cleveland overheads, which is why our prices are published on the site instead of arrived at after a discovery call has established what you can afford.

What it does not mean is a discount version of the work. The same technical standards, the same search work, the same senior attention. We simply do not have a New York rent bill to recover from the first three months of your retainer.

Who we build for in New York

The kinds of New York businesses this suits.

Mostly companies that are doing well and know it, with a website that quietly stopped keeping up with the business.

Professional services

Law firms, accountants, consultancies and financial advisers where the buyer is comparing credentials rather than prices. Bios, practice or sector pages and published thinking do the persuading, and the site is often read after a referral has already put your name in front of someone.

Hospitality and food

Restaurants, bars and venues, where the site competes with a hundred aggregator listings. Menus as real text rather than a PDF, reservations that work on a phone, correct hours everywhere Google reads them, and photography that looks like the room actually looks.

Real estate and property

Brokerages, developers, property managers and building owners. Listing and portfolio structures that stay editable, neighborhood pages that rank, floor plans and galleries that load quickly, and inquiry routing that gets a serious buyer to the right person the same day.

Boutique retail and ecommerce

Independent shops and brands selling online alongside a physical location. Catalog structure, product pages that answer the question that stops a purchase, and a checkout built to finish rather than to look tidy in a design file.

Medical and dental

Practices and specialists where the map pack decides the week's appointments. Condition and procedure pages, insurance and new patient information stated plainly, online booking, and review work, because in health searches the review count is often read before the website is.

B2B and industrial

Manufacturers, suppliers and service firms in the outer boroughs and beyond, with long technical buying cycles. Capability pages, specification detail, downloadable documentation and a site that reads as credible to a procurement team doing due diligence.

What it costs

The arithmetic against a New York agency retainer.

A mid-sized New York agency typically opens at a five figure project fee for a custom site and a monthly retainer on top, with the retainer covering an account manager, a strategist, a designer and a developer, most of whom you will never speak to. There is nothing dishonest about that. It is the cost structure of running a firm in Manhattan, and for large brands it is the right choice.

Our pricing is published because we do not carry that structure. A one day build is $2,000, paid in full, on a proven layout with your brand and your copy. A semi-custom site is $6,000, split into three payments of $2,000, with an original design system and the full technical and search setup. A fully custom site is $12,000, split into three payments of $4,000, where every section, interaction and integration is designed for your brand alone. Anything larger, meaning custom applications, complex integrations or web platforms, is quoted individually.

Search and content retainers are separate and optional, and we will tell you before starting if we think a budget is too small to move a New York term. That conversation happens before you pay, not in month four.

Neighborhood-level local SEO

What local search work looks like when a mile is a different market.

In most cities local SEO is a metro-wide exercise. In New York it happens block by block, so the checklist is longer and more specific.

  • A separate Google Business Profile for every staffed location, fully built out
  • Primary and secondary categories chosen per location, not copied across
  • Neighborhood landing pages with genuine local detail, transit and parking
  • Borough and neighborhood keyword research done separately for each site
  • Grid-based map pack tracking so you can see coverage fade street by street
  • Consistent name, address and phone data across every directory that still gets crawled
  • Review generation and response handled per location, at a steady pace
  • Local schema, service area markup and correct hours including holidays
  • Photography refreshed on a schedule for each profile
  • Competitor monitoring at the neighborhood level rather than city level

How it runs

How a New York project works when we are not in the room every week.

Most of the work runs remotely, which is how nearly every agency now operates whether or not it has an address in your borough. A project starts with a call, then a written scope with a fixed price and dates. From there it is shared documents, design reviews you can comment on directly, a staging URL you can open at any point, and a standing weekly check-in for as long as the build runs. We reply within a day, every day.

Meetings in New York happen by arrangement. If a kickoff, a photography day or a presentation to a partner group needs people in a room, we schedule it. What we will not do is claim a permanent Manhattan office we do not staff, because you would find out in week two.

We work well alongside an in-house marketing team. Often the arrangement is that we handle design, build and technical search while your team owns campaigns, social and email, with a clear split of who edits what and CMS training so your people can publish without waiting on us. Details on the build process sit on our web design page, and the heavier engineering work on our custom development page. If you want to start with a specific question rather than a full project, send it over and we will answer it.

FAQ

Working with us from New York

Do you have a New York office?

We work out of Cleveland and New York City, and we would rather be precise than impressive about it. The studio is small and senior, most of the work runs remotely, and meetings in New York happen by arrangement for kickoffs, photography days or presentations that need people in a room. There is no NYC front desk and no local account manager. What you get instead is the same three or four people from the first call through to launch and afterwards.

How much does web design cost in NYC?

Web design in New York City usually starts with an agency project fee in five figures for a custom site plus a monthly retainer. Our prices are published: $2,000 for a one day build paid in full, $6,000 for a semi-custom site as three payments of $2,000, and $12,000 for a fully custom build as three payments of $4,000. Applications, complex integrations and larger platforms are quoted individually. The gap is overhead, not quality. We do not carry Manhattan rent or an account management layer, and we do not price against what a discovery call suggests you can pay.

Do you do SEO in New York?

Yes. Working as an SEO agency for NYC clients means going narrower than most markets require: neighborhood-level local SEO rather than city-wide terms, a separate Google Business Profile and landing page for every staffed location, grid-based map tracking so you can see where coverage fades, and service pages specific enough to compete for exact phrases. We also cover technical cleanup, content and AI search visibility. Retainers are quoted separately from a build, and we report on calls and inquiries rather than rankings alone.

Can you work with our in-house marketing team?

Yes, and it is a common arrangement. Usually we take design, build and technical search while your team keeps campaigns, social, email and day to day content. We agree at the start who edits what, build the CMS around how your team actually works, and run training so your people can publish without waiting on us. We are equally happy to sit under an existing agency of record for the build only, or to work directly with a marketing director who wants one accountable technical partner.

How do we meet?

Video for most of it, in person in New York when it earns the travel. A typical project runs on a kickoff call, a written scope, design reviews you comment on directly in the file, a staging URL you can open at any time, and a weekly check-in while the build is live. We reply within 24 hours. If your team prefers Slack, email or a shared board, we will work in whichever one you already use rather than adding another tool to your week.

What industries do you work with in New York?

Professional services including law and finance, hospitality and food, real estate and property management, boutique retail and ecommerce, medical and dental practices, and B2B or industrial companies. The common thread is a business that already has customers and a website that has fallen behind it. Our portfolio is heaviest in legal, real estate and local services, and we will tell you if your sector is one where we would be learning on your budget rather than bringing something.
